MWF partners with Geelong Grammar School

This year, Melbourne Writers Festival embarked on an exciting new partnership with Geelong Grammar School (GGS).

As part of the partnership, acclaimed writer Nina Wan (The Albatross) attended GGS’s Corio Campus in May to speak directly to students about forging a career as a writer and to introduce the theme for the school’s annual literary prizes: movement.

The literary prizes at GGS are awarded to the most compelling responses in the categories of poetry and essay. The students have been working hard on their entries, with the shortlisted entries to be judged by Nina, providing an invaluable opportunity for feedback direct from a celebrated author.  The winners will be announced in early October.

We are thrilled to be connecting emerging young voices to writers as part of our partnership with Geelong Grammar School, and wish good luck to all the entrants!

It was invaluable for the students to connect their own writing to the insights and advice of a professional writer working in the contemporary industry.
